A lot of guilds used monk tanks in Velious once you get SoDs to hold agro. Monks were originally built around having low AC items with an AC bonus when underweight. Velious hosed that up big time by adding crap like 60 AC monk legs. They also have 50 more dodge skill and use block instead of parry (higher "proc" chance if I remember correctly).

Defensive/Evasive obviously a big deal and still makes warriors preferred, but if you can handle the healing without it you remove some complexity of a sudden increase in damage or having to tank switch.

Monks are the most op'd class in Vel, after they get triple attack. Also a fungus tunic with +10 resist all and 100 hp that is monk only. And a right click from inventory 3 slot/3 second cast dispel only clickable by monks and necros.

ya i'm just saying it has nothing to do with tanking really, whirlwind or voiddance would end up being much better if you need to disc to stay alive

the only thing good about stonestance is that it has a 4 minute cooldown

we had 30-35 in VP one time doing xygoz, tank went down, and i tanked him from 65% until he was dead without needing a single heal

No....it's actually extremely classic. Monks never got nerfed until well after PoP, losing your touch smedy dawg.

Monk tanky stuff got nerfed in Luclin like a week before PoP I thought? Regardless, wasn't in Velious. One of the last major patches in Velious gave them triple attack in fact, lol.

The hybrids get a ton of buffs in Velious (skill cap increases, disciplines, detrimental spell casting time reduction) but I don't think any other class gets as much of a boost in Velious as a monk. Plus they scale as well as any class in that you can't really get too many of them at a raid.

I have a lvl 52 monk I should probably level up.

I thought it was the end of PoP, but I could be mistaken and it being the end of luclin..shit was like 15 years ago and it's a little hazy.
