Either way fast xp is the same as needing two characters to play one character with the state of the community. (In about 50% of the cases of classes)

Fast XP is doing a minimal amount to increase population.

The community will never grow because its attracting the wrong player base and its not being developed externally, or by word of mouth, or whatever.

Might as well enable boxing. There is no point in playing on this server unless you have a certain Nihilistic play style. (read Nihilistic as, amoral, or uncaring, unguided, self centered, unethical, without meaning)

Its not in the Spirit, of EQ.

It may even be counter intuitive to you. But I believe wholeheartedly that fast EXP increases the rate at which players run out of content and burn out and get bored with the 'process' of playing EQ. And other means of cheating the xp curve. People with 6 alts in good/BIS gear are RIPs here usually. A low exp rate sustains the struggle for dominance. Prolongs exploration. And increases the need for teamwork. Or other creative gameplay, that may be more emergant then normative for acheivement based players.

Achievers will never have the opportunity to grow, mature, and appreciate pvp on this box because things are handed to them on a silver platter in that case.

Oh I see, the game is only fun when it is hard. Yes, haven't heard that one before.

There's a whole bunch wrong with this statement. One, the game isn't hard at all. It's just tedious. Monotonous. A grind. That isn't fun. Launching the server without an exp bonus + exp loss actually killed the server. It's really sad you're arguing for more blue grinding.

If you think that grinding is the spirit of EQ you're sorely wrong. EQ was about teamwork and exploring zones together, which exp bonus helps people do in the small amount of hours they can play.

I disagree. I think xp has encouraged people to not have teamwork. Or roll and play interdependent classes. Everyones first char is mage, necro, wiz, druid.

And now bards are pretty popular. Its a huge turn off for anyone who doesn't particularly "love" those classes and doesn't want to devote game to farming items to play a class. Would just rather "play the game".

We have a disagreement that stems from two entirely different perspectives on the game. For you it seems this is just a "combat simulation". In some ways it is and its so simple a child can master it. Yet I would go so far as to say that how you reach the end point of that simulation, and what you do when you are there is greatly influenced by how fast xp is.

Yes because nothing is going to make someone roll a warrior like slowing down exp rates.

If we assume your arguement is correct then then appropriate action would be to incentivize grouping by say; increasing the group exp bonus.

That being said, lowering the exp rate past what it is currently on red99 would be a very big mistake for teams99.

make RNG decide if you get exp for the mob u just killed.

each mob assigned a #, say 0-999 or w/e

when u kill mob a die is rolled, if your roll matches the mob # you get .35 xp.

Thats actually a cool idea hehe. (maybe not to extremes) but general randomization in XP earned per kill would be kind of neat feature in an RPG.

if this happens then server will be a success.

This server currently only caters to the crowd that can devote their life to the game. I came back and tried to do it but I just cant anymore. I have a successful job and soon to have a fiance. I can't devote 18 hours a day anymore. Make the server more casual please.
