Did you feel a twinge of irony when you typed that? Everyone who reads it will.

Today's guns and ammunition are as different from what the founder's had in mind as a hoe is to a backhoe, or a stick of tnt is to nuclear ordnance. Colonial soldiers had to muzzleload a marble propelled by shitty gunpowder. Now you can turn a packed theatre into pink mist with one or two magazines.

Other than the concept of evolution and that Obama's administration isn't uniquely awful, this is the hardest concept for rabid gun owners to understand. George Mason did not own a black rifle and wouldn't have stood up for your "right" to.

Today's internet, TV, and cell phones are as different from what the founder's had in mind as a hoe is to a backhoe, or a stick of tnt is to nuclear ordnance. Colonial soldiers had to dip a pen in an ink well and write on shitty paper. Now you can text, email, or blog someone a novel within one or two seconds.

George Mason did not own a black cell phone and wouldn't have stood up for your "right" to.

The founding fathers never envisioned this communication technology, clearly we should remove the 1st amendment. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I know that so called "true americans", say that we cannot trust our government, but if we have no government, then what do we have, a distopian country, where the powerfull run the show, and there are now laws, or justice system. Really you wanna live in a country like that.

Look, im all for peeps wanting to protect themselves, but there has to be a limits to the weapons regular people own. General public should be limited to guns, rifles, and shotguns, anything more is overkill. The police and SWAT, should be allowed to have anything short of M1 tanks. The military should have no limits of course.

If people want to shoot Semi's or 50 cal style weapons, then they should only be fired at Shooting Ranges. Even then, i know that wont stop the violence, we are humans after all. But at least we can reduce the carnage a crazy person can do.

You don't reduce what they can do, you reduce how they can do it.

You do realize there is basically little difference in mechanical function between a pistol (lets say a 1911 or a Glock) and an AK47 or AR15 that you can buy today, right? They are all semi automatic. Fully automatic weapons can no longer be purchased in the US (since 1986) unless you are willing to fork over the 20k to buy a pre-ban weapon, which are mostly on the shelves of collectors. When was the last time you heard of a mass shooting in the US with a fully automatic weapon? You haven't....

The Glock, 1911, AK47, AR15 are all semi automatic, all have the same rate of fire (1 bullet per trigger pull), all can be made to hold the same number of bullets (extend magazines, drums etc). You're simply afraid of the AK47 or AR15 but not the pistols because the AK47/AR15 looks "scary", because you do not understand firearms.

Before you get into "well the AK47 or the AR15 shoots further than the glock", maybe .... but when was the last time you heard of someone getting shot in a long range shooting? Most are well under 15 yards.... and I am just as accurate at 15 yards with my AK47 or any other "evil black rifle" as I am with my Glock.

Firearms are inanimate objects, they take a specific set of inputs from a user to fire. The people are the problem, not the firearms.

The types of guns are not the problem. The sickness of the people using them is.
