I think it is weird they didn't ask for a DxDiag or something, most betas ask for that now so they sort of get a demographic of what machines are running what, etc. I also think they do it to get an even spread of people with lower quality, mid quality and, high quality machines. They can't let it be all mouth breathers with $3000 dollar computers.
