I've never cared for consoles since i'm a grown man and the games are shit, but i am interested in the media center properties of the consoles.

Is PS4 going to feature all the video capability you can expect, like watching youtube, netflix movies from smb network/dlna devices etc?

Never had a playstation, did have the original xbox one and chipped that one to run XBMC but considering getting a PS4, having a HD camera that films me jerking of for NSA to enjoy seems like a bad idea
If your only using the console as a media center might i suggest just getting a cheap PC or Laptop to use instead of a ps4/XB1. I use to use my PS3 as media center but ended up just building a cheap dual core/2gb RAM cheap other crap PC and using that as my media center. I ditched Cable completely and just find live feeds for sports i want to watch and TPB anything i want to watch and never have to worry about streaming cutting in/out or anything. If you can live without HD finding streaming stuff on internet is way to go instead of cable in my eyes.

What a PR shitfest. Whatever, not getting an Xbone anyway. Nothing's stopping them from continuing with other greedy tactics.

Pretty much. What will happen is you'll be required to purchase more and more via download only. Why do you think both systems come with a 500GB hard drive? That's a whole lot of space for saved games, hahahaha. All of this sharing physical media enabled BS won't matter because there will be so little of it.

There's plenty of HD stuff out there as well. That's mainly all I grab. Mythbuntu and the other Myth distributions are a great way to get your feet wet on Linux.

Maybe because having a 500GB drive is cheap as dirt..honestly should be 1TB...that's cheap too.

Xbox One -- Microsoft confirms its new console MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 24 HOURS.

After doing so you'll be allowed to game, offline, for a maximum of 24(real world, not game-time) hours.
No longer required to be on the internet, can now share games. Now the best next gen console.

Well, I personally don't care about subs for online play, as long as there are dedicated servers, and MS is the only one to announce that they are bringing up 300k, yes 300,000, more servers, for XBox Live, solely for the Xbox One.

PSN, last I heard, likes to get hacked and give away your credit card info =)
