These agent missions or whatever theyre called should keep me busy for the next couple of days. The business dude has 10 of them and I'm just now finished up my 2nd. I think there were like 5 different people offering me missions. Browser is handy while auto-piloting.

Edit: is there anyway to move about freely with wasd or anything? Or is it all context menu and right click based?

true but auto piloting is a lot slower than manually flying. not to mention its a death wish if you are hauling around valueable cargo or dare travel out of highsec (or in highsec if wardec'd)

right click gate and you can either

warp to zero then jump when you get to gate OR

just right click select jump.

autopiloting puts you 15km away from gate so you ship slowly has to fly to 2500m from the gate before you can jump. if you use the above method youll warp on top of the gate everytime and jump. basically it saves you alot of time.

god forbid you are in a slow ship, autopiloting will literally take FOREVER because ships will take a full minute or two to get to the gate before every jump. so ya basically every time you warp into a new system, right click the next gate you want to goto and select jump.

I'm in my starting ship "Velator" or whatever. Seems like the top speed is 3000km/s

Edit: Just got a "venture" but its taking 16 minutes to train "mining frigate" so i can make it active and use it.

Downloaded that PDF, this might well be worth a look... as a fan of Homeworld I think I could get into it [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

because its not linked in this thread, here are the two videos that got me to try eve. first, possibly the most epic pvp video ive ever seen. not only does it show the fights but it builds up the story. dont fuck with these guys.

I recommend you watch the rooks and kings video LAST. its hella long and honestly a lot of it wont make any sense to you.

Rooks and Kings Worm Hole Corp Story - warning 37 minutes long, this isnt just a battle but an epic story. they have other videos as well if you like their work
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrYe_4vHzgE

CCP Dominion Trailer - next is one of ccps trailers. it is pretty fucking cool and i recommend you watch it. less than 4 minutes long. its basically a battle between two alliances, however it ends with both sides getting fucked [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rQ9_3DckAQ

CCP Butterfly Effect - an honorable mention is another ccp video that basically shows how you can impact the eve universe by a simple action (butter fly effect.) pretty cool even if you dont like the game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq2oxt7Nrxo

Cheesy CCP "I was there trailer" - based on a real story. semi-cheesy but worth a watch. Basically one of the ship types in eve is an intercepter. they are pretty fuckin fast. his job was to fly his interceptor to the middle of the attacking fleet. this would allow his fleet to warp to him meaning they would warp right on top of the enemy fleet. since the enemy fleet was fitted for long range, once the other fleet was on top of them it was over.

I've been in Eve University for about 2 years, mostly helping run and teach out of the Low-Sec Campus, where we focus on low-sec living and PVP (small gang, large gang, solo, pretty much everything). I'll be moving out finally in a couple months, out to null.

This game is what you make of it, based on your interest in any of the following: hardcore PVP, PVE that can be anywhere from dull and safe to unsafe and fairly tense (in low sec), industry, and market manipulation (market PVP).

The learning curve is pretty epic, however. The ongoing joke is that the official CCP introduction to the game is "Here is a Rubik's Cube. Now go F yourself." Because of that, I would recommend finding an actual corporation, and one that is particularly friendly to newbies. These are the best way to learn about the mechanics of the game without having to find out everything "the hard way." You will learn more in 2 weeks in a good corporation, than you will in a year of playing on your own. Believe me, I was the same and I hear it every day from new Uni members who have actually been in game a while.

Some good choices are:

*Eve University (E-Uni) (all aspects of the game, through sub-capital non-sov null) - fairly strict rules, but rules that are in place to protect you from making dumb mistakes early. Friendly community with campuses in low-sec, w-space, and null-sec. Free newbie ships and 1m ISK in free skillbooks a day.

*Red vs. Blue (RVB) (high sec and some low-sec PVP) - RVB is a good crew, made up of two corporations that are based in high sec and permanently at war with each other. If you want to jump in the game and get in fights for fun, they are the way to go.

*Brave Newbies, Inc (BNI) (general asshat PVP, high/low/null) - The Brave Newbs are a mishmash of new players lead by some competent vets who are pretty much all PVP, all the time. They range from your standard new player troll/asshat to some pretty decent people, but your experience will probably be towards the asshat side.

Unsurprisingly, I highly recommend E-Uni. Despite what you might hear from some uninformed numbskulls in game, the University will provide you with all the basics and intermediate information necessary to make informed decisions about what you want to do in game, provides a work-fair with plenty of good corps eager to recruit Uni members, and has a much wider breadth of knowledge and experience it can offer new players than pretty much any other corporation.
