I'm just surprised at all the mentions of Lou Malnati's and Pizzeria Uno, and not one dropped Gino's East. Given the choices of the three, I always preferred Gino's. The original location is downtown on Superior.

@Rogean - Clarify your stay in the Markham area. I grew up in the town bordering Markham to the south, and fled the area in 2003. I can guarantee that Markham is NOT an ok area. :P If you were west of there, it improves exponentially each town over...just curious.

Have you seen Blue Man Group? They perform at the Briar Street Theatre, on the north side, in the vicinity of Wrigley (on Halsted)...

Pending when you are in town, there is always Baconfest, on April 20th, at UIC.

Interesting. For some reason I always had it in my head that those hotel/flight search sites always overcharged.
That's probably because you had a bad overall experience booking a plane ticket and a hotel room one time.

tl;dr the thread replies, but I live near Chicago and go all the time. Look for a small hotel (non-chain name) on the northern east side, a google maps search of the suburb names will speed your search along.

Do NOT go on the South side at night, have fun chi is an amazing city
