I sold my old home on Open Door. Closes next Friday. So far everything has been exactly like Open Door said it would be. I'll update if it actually works. What Open Door offered me seems too good to be true so I will be skeptical until the money actually hits my bank account.

Pretty interesting business model. I originally thought they were in the business of flipping homes on a large scale to make money but essentially Open Door's business model is to fuck realtors out of their commissions. Which I'm kinda all for. My realtor was pretty pissed when I told her I'm trying out an I-buyer.

idk bout you guys but I remember in the 80s all the tv commercials about joining a reale state class, or buying videos, to learn the secret trick to making money in real estate!

all these testimonials of like, poor people with big fat checks in their hands. "In the first year after my program, I made $150,000." "I made 50,000 after 1 year of this amazing course."

And then I remember over time people sharing the secret, and it becoming a non secret, and realizing the secret was: buy a shity house paint it then sell it!

Then we had the next 20 years of huge growth and then the housing market collapsed.

Now we're here. Wonder what happens next!

Try again, sorry bud. Savvy investing and being open to moving is more accurate. We put less than 5k into our house and made mega bucks. Don't be so bitter.

The new tech is large corps buying all available single family homes with like 3 trillion dollar market cap powers and renting them indefinitely forever.

So maybe get all their renters to stop paying rent at the same time and force a company to foreclose on 80k houses or take massive losses while they can't get enough cops to evict the 260k people at the exact same time over the course of several months.

So how this scheme collapses is anyones guess.
