i will concede to alhaheuiqwhewqedor that a silver handle ~3" drop point locking folder is about as generic as a stabby type knife gets in the USA
in most states; it's different depending on local laws especially with lock types allowed.
and i will concede that cops do plant evidence, given that i've successfully sued a police department who planted evidence on me, but i just don't see how you can come to that conclusion based on what's been posted in this thread (i haven't googled for more info on this case, who knows maybe there's more to it?) given how much the man's actions and movements in the second bodycam video corroborate the story that he stopped and tried to stab a cop. especially given his history of violent crime.
the way i see it, at that distance he could put a knife in you so quick that weird behavior like that warrants two in the chest whether he had one or not.
situations like that are a tragedy, but i'll accept that cops aren't perfect fucking robocops who make mistakes and this is what we have bodycams for. roast any pig who maliciously shoots an innocent man but in more questionable cases like this where i think any reasonable person who isn't being clouded by cophate and politics could understand the level of risk the cop is in and understand their decision to go home to their wife and kids that night. i'm going to side with the cop every time its even a remotely questionable situation. pull an airsoft gun on a cop? you deserve what you get. etc.
also i don't often come here to bootlick cops, i usually stay out of these ones. ideologically i'm in this weird space where i think cops are a good + necessary thing to a civil society but i think our revenue generation quota based systems and other factors lead to a bunch of shit cops in practice, and they're working in a society of people who hate and distrust them. so in practice fuck da police. but i feel a lot of people meet 1 shitty cop and lose all nuance. there's a lot of good cops too and the good ones deserve respect af.
