The entire point is this was inside jokes. Only people who went to midnight cult movie stuff knew who Divine was. They have left perhaps some preserved memories of cherishing the adventures of Dawn Davenport.

But that doesn’t make sense with this proclamation. He already admits which is quoted in the article that Disney has lost the support of a lot of conservatives. So telling conservatives to “be quiet” is silly because they aren’t listening because he already lost their business

So he clearly seems to be addressing Disney, a left-leaning company. Finally admitting that yes, these super rich private entities that the left used to dislike due to their wealth and power HAS been engaging in culture wars, and to stop it

Which is what I’ve been saying all along. Make good movies, stop preaching, keep politics out of your business. It’s not that fuckin hard to do

Ya I figured this. But also I think it’s due to alienating half your customer base by putting changing perceived previous stereotypes ahead of making a good story

There’s nothing wrong with a shift towards Strong empowered female lead who don’t need no man or training crushes dumb white men villains with the help of body positive fat black supporting cast….as long as the story is good

But when it seems like DEI casting and The Message is put ahead of story and acting based on merit too many times in an row, people start to give up

The sad thing is, had the stories been awesome, I’d be asking for more of all of that, and willing to pay to watch it. They would have “won”. But the stories and writing sucked :/
