Nope, after yeltsin’s coup everyone knew they’d be subjugated by Russia and wanted no part of it. The referendum you cited came before said coup, the one I cited after

same thing happened when the vietnam war really took off, there certainly are elements of this conflict within ukraine that feel like a social civil war so of course people are gonna choose sides

It isn't too far from a 1:1 ratio, but

1563386+1055323+486133+169306+161012+158800+151712 +118994+110901+108824+107199 = 4,191,590

Ukrainians leaving for places other than Russia 4,191,590 > 2,852,395 Ukrainians leaving to join Russia.

Also, Your statement is doubly wrong: didn't most Ukrainians not leave at all?
