This horse has been under the cudgel for 40 odd years. This today, like right here in this thread, is literally what demographers would call "2nd wave" gay panic. My liberal parents are awkward around gay stuff, but not explicitly hateful. But I grew up in the 80s and 90s.

I don't r ally care about whether my kids are gay or not. I just want them to shower regularly and put their dishes in the dishwasher instead of my wife asking me to take days off to clean up their messes around the house, or to come home early to cook dinner for five women.

The ironic part is, they're not even an irregularity in their generation, being practically incompetent at basic life skills is the Hallmark of their generation. They must be getting paid a lot to watch tiktok all day to be able to assume they can afford my time for the little stuff.

It doesn't matter if you're gay or straight if I practically have to live your entire life for you lest you devolve into a literal pig in the rut.
