I tell everyone to buy an AAA membership, it's dirt cheap and it will get your ass out of a real bind if you end up stranded.

do they have that or some similiar roadside assistance service in the UK? I figure with that being a smallish island, no matter where your car breaks down there is a town or something nearby, but it would be handy to give a bloke a bell from your mobile so he'll arrive in his lorry, sort that whole mess and bob's your uncle.
9/10 linguistics, very well done.

Idk how to change a tyre but I can swap a wheel with a flat for the spare.

We have an equivalent to the AAA but drop the ‘A’ for American, so it is just AA. We still have the other AA too. Gotta be careful which you call! We also have a bunch of other competing services - RAC, Green Flag and so on. Does the USA only have the AAA then?

oh we probably have dozens of roadside assistance companies, with AAA being the largest by a good margain. they are all-in on the "save your ass" business selling many types of insurance, along with services like credit cards, travel info, vehicle tag services, on top of the roadside assistance. Data has become big part of their business in the modern age as they are often referenced instead of dept of transportation or NTSB. Their standards are the mark for auto shops and dealers. so they have a healthy monopoly.
