Nah it's pretty good for like, most people. The poorest people in america are still at least a thousand times better off than the poorest people in other countries as well as 99.9% of the poor in world history. And we have social safety nets for those who can't help themselves.

The thing is those who claim to care about the poor, but really just hate the rich, draw no distinction between somebody who busts their ass for 4 decades to become rich and a trust fund brat who is born rich. Not that *either* of them deserve frothy resentful ire, but it's worth considering.

Blacks and browns frequently “ball out” like this, and clothes, and shoes, but don’t purchase education and have 6 kids out of wedlock by 29 and reach into their car in Wisconsin and end up getting shot in the back. Nah just like, do what the cop says to do, and if you feel you were unfairly arrested or detained, our rare and young and experimental country has formal recourse that you can wield against the state for actual compensatory justice.

OR, decide to fight a cop and ignore everything they say because you have moral agency to make choices, and end up dead when you have three kids.

on behalf of the rich i'd like to say that we don't work hard, we work if and when we want to, because we can hire you to work for us and get even richer doing it. that's what being rich is. sometimes we want to work a lot, and intensely, but we can stop any time and get you to do it too. a common but crucial misunderstanding.
