Debt is fine if it's useful and not too onerous. Like I said it's 6-12% of government revenue, which is a tiny fraction of US GDP.

I think that's the Byrd rule but debt interest and payments are not a big problem for the budget right now. It would be nice if they were better I suppose but this is no calamity.
