LOL! Open a history book. Any one will do. Shakespeare's plays, even the tragedies, had a hefty dose of romanticism to them and glossed over what life was really like. They were all candy-coated daytime soaps of their day that were meant to take people away from the horror of their lives (they were written for the illiterate--really, really illiterate-- masses of the day). Today, practically everybody lives a dream compared to anything in the Middle Ages, so naturally, they want to be taken away to the gloom.

And why were the people of the middle ages so miserable?

Books TL;DR
Robb Stark dies, Jon Snow dies, Joffrey dies, Catelyn dies, Tywin Lannister dies, Lyssa dies, Lord Mormont dies, Gregor Clegane dies

Enjoy the show!

Shakespeare is 16th/17th century. Thats 100 years after anything considered medieval/middle ages. Why would people watch a candy-coated daytime soap to take away from the horror of their families lives 100 years ago? I'm not arguing that his depictions might be a bit romanticized, but this is the renassiance era, nearly the enlightenment era we are talking about, given the lifespan of a human back then the people watching the Shakespeare plays were 2-3 generations removed from the middle ages. Maybe you should open a history book.

The first episode didn't have enough action for me no offense. Am I seriously missing out? It can't be that good?

the burden of proof is on the person making the claim. Proof?
