P1999 can't revive the ignorance we had back then. P1999 can't even add a new zone because it wouldn't be classic. What this means is that unless you're new you're playing in familiar content. I think it'd be fun to have a game exactly like p1999 but with new zones and new items and new non-players and new cities. I don't care if the game mechanics are exactly the same. The fact that it's new would add a fresh appeal to it. I mean, anything you learn has more value, since it's not on the web yet. There's a lot of things I like about p1999. But new games inevitably will change things and since you can't please everyone it will also inevitably appeal to a new crowd of players. So while a new game like p1999 with fresh new features and mechanics would probably b e fun, it might also not be. But anyway I already answered the question. P1999 can't revive the unknown.

chat rooms to use after buffs were all gtg, to log out to,to make sure everyone was clear on strats. No cells phones, no ventrillo, etc. cuz yeah: half on dialup with one line.
What can't be reproduced is the fact that back then, EQ was likely the most amazing connection you had to an instantaneous network of global people you had access to. that was priceless tbh. First time I ver sat in my home and said, holy shit, I'm playing an online game with people from Australia, Europe, Asia, the US, and we aretrying to make sure we are all clear who has got what in order to take down some dragon... come the fuck on. epic. in the true sense.

There was some magic in the original EQ that will never be recreated

The biggest thing IMO: Not knowing what was next. The excitement and curiosity drove me (and I'm sure many others) to keep playing, keep leveling.
I suppose that experience is a decent driver to relive it all over again, but like the previous post alludes to, there's a certain bit of magic that just cannot be relived. | ||

Remove variance, make all raid mobs spawn 5am-1pm US EST.. make sure all resist buffs stack with each other, let mage pets hold 8 swords at once, make raid mobs charmable to kill other raid mobs in every zone
