The fear is a hold over from those that partly-remember the change. The original Kithicor was about as dangerous as East Commonlands minus KoS guards and griffins. Folks got used to plowing through the zone without worry, myself included, in their travels between the halves of Antonica.

Then, what happened to me, happened to a lot of folks. I was L25 at the time. I remember that perfectly. I was on my way back from west Antonica to EC. I used the EK -> Highpass -> Kithicor -> WC -> EC route mostly. I had zoned into Kithicor and actually stayed close to the walls as a guide. I'd say I would be within sight of the zone walls. All I remember was seeing a zombie model and then dying in one shot to some DD spell. I hadn't been one-shotted since before L10... that's why I remember being L25 as I told friends I had been one-shotted in Kithicor by some kind of caster.

The zone went from no-brainer safe to instant death. Nobody understood the day/night cycle for a day or two. The word went out quick that Kithicor was now effin' dangerous!

That initial scare has stuck for many, many people.

I understand where you're coming from though. After a while you just have to grin at the L15 sitting inside the zone line from WC asking for IVU.

What? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

WW: amazing zone! you can lvl 1 - 36 and never leave the zone. Giant fort is super cool spot with good pp loot, same goes for the goblin fort. It has interesting layout with the river canyon and I actually love how confusing the zone is if you dont know it well, I dont like easy zones. WW is one of the 10 best zones in game easy.

Dalnir: another great zone, good use of Z axis, one way portal out=challenge, nice crescent monk gear, good exp, fun zone for full grp.

Idk about Kithikor, never really spent time there, but I really like the day/night change and I remember being low lvl Iksar bound in Overthere and scared shitless when going through. Definitely not one of 3 most undesired zones in game.

my pick would be
The Arena
Gorge of King Xorbb
Erud's Crossing

I wanted off beat answers to mix it up a bit.

Dalnir isnt desirable because to get a group there you have to be well geared and have a good make up to not die so easily. It feels so out of the way with the size of kunark and how many people are there, its an ok zone with decent monk gear. So for 1 class, it is desirable.

I never played an ikky so I don't know about WW much, undesirable to me...

And kith is just kith, 1 raid mob, then night/day cycle, why would I go there except to run through it or help a rogue, again just undesirable.

Im sticking with the title, for my choices

Every Kunark zone that's not a dungeon. It's like West Karana was the model for every zone in this expansion: gigantic and useless.

Lake Rathe. It's like Kedge only it's not as interesting and it has nothing in it.

I'll actually defend Kerra Isle. I don't understand the complaints about loot/itemization, considering Blackburrow is much more popular and fuck all drops in that zone. There's some pretty nice loot if you know the zone. It's also a cool looking place. The problem is that only Erudites start on Odus, and 90+% of all Erudites are int casters, so it's pretty difficult to actually form up a balanced group for the zone. It's also way too hard; the mobs start quite a bit higher level than where Toxx leaves you and there's way too many dangerous caster mobs everywhere for the low level range it's trying to cater to. If Kerra Isle was somewhere more accessible, I bet it would be a decently popular hunting location sort of like Befallen, which is also quite challenging yet rewarding.

I will defend Dalnirs too, if anything the visceral dagger is one of the coolest looking necro items in the game.

1. Gorge - I went there all of once, and I have no desire to ever go back again.

2. Surefall - Did they really need a whole zone of tree-huggers? I like druids and rangers well enough, but it seems to me that Qeynos Hills could have just had the tree-hugger "city" setup like Kelethin.

3. Neriak 3rd Gate - The city of Neriak is really small and simple. There's just no need for it to have 3 zones.

I still have very fond memories of Cazic Thule, despite the casters (if fact, maybe because of the casters). The only real problem with it is that it didn't age well with the server population and expansions. But that can be said of many old world zones.

On live, CT was still the place to be. Casters or not, the zone always had several groups running. Fine steel and Ravenscale surely padded my wallet. I wish it was populated on p99 because it's surely a fun place if you understand the mechanics of the zone.

As for Lavastorm, I recently leveled my monk there. Hung out near Najena and tried to kill only the rock dervishes. I forget the levels I went, but as an alternative to North Ro or Oasis, it was much more interesting to look at. And if you were ever in trouble, the zone to Najena was right there...
