I think part of the beauty of EQ pvp was the imbalance. Nowadays games strive so hard to create balance that classes are constantly wrecked and rebuilt to achieve something that may never exist. (Hence the flavor of the months syndrome, where every patch made a class more powerful then all the rest.)
For those who never played on classic pvp servers. Leveling was not easy, even as a cleric on tallon I probably soloed 70% of my way to 50. But when Kunark came out I had a guild and comrades I could trust and was able to group 100% to 60. Anyhow this is just meant to be a helpful reminder that classic EQ took a lot of patience and good judgement (pick your fights wisely). If your a melee make a lot of friends.

Midgard! Come wiff me if you want tooo live. Okay actually you are better siding with Hibs. Everyone from here is on Hib, and Hib outpopulates Mid almost 2 to 1, and have all STR relics.

One thing you will learn about the VZ/TZ emu community, they cry with the best of them, until they threaten to leave because they don't get what they want. On VZ/TZ emu the GMs basically caved to their every bitch. If there was one reason I don't play eq pvp anymore it would have to be because of them (the community), not because of game mechanics or how "hard" it is to level. It's probably just me getting old and not wanting to deal with a little kid's mentality.

EQ pvp is actually the most enjoyable pvp I've had in a game. Not because its has a diverse array of skills and spells on every class, but because pvp in EQ is 10x as meaningful as any other PVP game I've played (all of them). Like nirgon and fireapple said, its about governing the game, fighting over the right to progress.
Also, know that Kunark is where the classes get much more balanced out. Until then, melee really have it rough. Hopefully they will fix resists and add melee knockback interrupts and all classes can get in on the action. After kunark, I don't think theres another more "balanced" pvp game out there. Every class has their benefits if you know how to take advantage of them.

200 on during non work/school hours is plenty for classic. There's already 4-5 people in every non newbie zone and around 10 people in all the mid to high level areas. As people start getting into the higher levels they will be forced to go to the only end game zones and more conflicts will ensue. That being said, more people would mean more conflict which would be better.

I have 50s in every realm, if you guys make it up there, I'll tag along.
Uthgard is shit though IMO for lots of balance issues that they can't fix because they have no staff. RvR is set in classic age with NF RAs which automatically makes some classes OP especially at high RR. It's brutal trying to RR10-11 people at RR4 (which is all you cAn get to in the BG) I've been playing daoc live. There are 30-80 people in every realm on in Thidranki (24 bg) and Molvik (39 bg) good thing is these BGs also avoid most of the MLs and Artifacts which ruined daoc 50 pvp.

Daoc live is full of stealthers in NF that just insta shot everyone.
Battlegrounds may be fun, but RvR frontiers is where it's at.
