Proximity to the mob is a huge factor in who'll take the hits as well. And when I say huge factor, I mean if you're at max melee range and a dps in practically on top of the mob then the dps might pull aggro.
Advice: Be practically on top of the mob Only taunt when you lose aggro Kick whenever possible Pray for procs | ||

Proximity is good if you're rooting (or if there is a slight chance that you may be rooting).. ..also helps with push interrupts if my anecdotal observations are correct. Not using taunt when using taunt is worthless helps you have taunt ready when you need it.
