I just got my (first) bike last spring, and I love it. I ride it almost every day!

I want to upgrade to a vStar 1100 eventually, but so far, my lil' Honda is treating me great (and gets almost 50mpg).

the only rule is; if you ride, you will crash. so dress for the crash, not for the ride. sweat wipes off, road rash doesnt.

ya and you can kill yourself walking down the street, too. that doesn't mean its a good idea to put someone who's never ridden on a bike that can go 120 mph in second gear

Meh, my first bike was a 08 CBR1000RR. Been riding it for three years now and no accidents. Just cause your bike -can- do 200, doesn't mean you -have- to do 200.

No matter the size it's all about your respect for the machine (Scooter or Motorcycle, Crotch Rocket or Cruiser). Get cocky or arrogant, and your likelihood of going down goes up, period. On any machine.

Stay safe, stay aware, stay alive. Remember, throttle all the way back is generally -not- a good idea on the street, no matter your skill level.

Personally, in that price range, I'd look for a CBR600. It all really comes down to taste though. You've said you want a motorcycle. So, you want a cruiser or a rocket?

EDIT: Mimi, your sig is mesmerizing.

Ninja250s are lame... I'd start off with a Ninja 500 over a 250. My first bike was a Vulcan 500. Worked for me.
