I think the acting alone thing comes from the old days when terror was rare and shocking, rather than a daily occurrence. Back then they wanted to be assured that everything was going to be ok (everything was, those boomer bastards) and there were no bad guys sneaking around looking to blow up anything else.

I agree that trying to solve the “root cause” always just becomes a cop out to do nothing. Pretend you are working when the boss comes by while sitting on your phone

But in regards to recent events. Some dude got divorced, lost his mind over it, and went on a rampage. It’s not all that dissimilar from many other criminal actions like that in the past

It was the divorce and the need for demonstrating re-establishing control that was the “root cause” there

If you look on his youtube though, he seems more like an American black muslim than any other type. In a day gone by he would have been NoI instead of a bomber.
