There is an official EQ pen and paper game however. The book looks nice but I've never ran a game with it (yet. Still have the PDF on an external hdd somewhere)

I play AD&D. I have tried a few of the newer editions and while I do like some of the things they introduced they just weren't for me. I find that D&D much like MMOs seemed to become more 'player friendly' as time went on. 4e in particular just felt like I was playing something akin to World of Warcraft the few times I played it. 4e is probably more complex in terms of a combat system with all its various abilities + feats but the combat also felt more like a chore that would drag on and was pretty predictable. AD&D, while lacking tons of abilities, more than made up for it by having monsters that were just often perilous to encounter because they could just kill you based on a failed save. Level draining undead were also something to fear. Some people don't like these kind of mechanics and I don't really blame them as they can be a giant pain in the ass. Than again some people prefer WoW over EverQuest for pretty much the exact same reason. WoW is way more complex but predictable and EverQuest is a huge pain in the ass because of its many "hardcore" mechanics.

5000pts of Empire, 2000 pts Vampire Counts, 2000 pts of Chaos Daemons Nurgle, 3000 pts of Chaso Warriors Nurgle, 3000 pts of Dwarfs, and 3000 pts of Ultra Marines. lol I AM MEGA NERD! honestly though i use alot of them in my D&D/Savage Worlds games.

Heres a link to a few pics of the Vamp counts and Warriors trying to sell them via Craigs List

Vampier Counts https://post.craigslist.org/manage/2323590514
Lol fantastic! I play Ogres, Dark Elves, Wood Elves and Vampires myself =) Meet up every Saturday for tabletop and BBQ. Hoping to start up a new DND campaign as well with the same crew. On off days classic Everquest suffices.

Ahhh, the joys of being a nerd.

My buddies from the old days occasionally get together from the 4 corners of the earth around holidays and binge for a couple days.

Second edition only.

I agree, unless you've ever played with a GREAT DM, it's not really much fun.

ive always had the privilege of being the DM and thankfully i learned from people who played ad&d and the star wars rpg put out by west end games. these were i think some of the last games that put a real pressure on the dm to be excellent. with the later editions of the games the mechanics took over and the story telling took a side role

I wonder if E.G.G. were still alive if he would have a regular weekly game? [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
