Unless you spawn fully geared a pvp server would never take hold here (see Red 1.0)

I kinda agree. There's a large enough group of raging EQ PvP neckbeards that any new PvP server is soon dominated by them and despite what claims they make their actions tend to push away more casual players and soon you're left with Red99 level population count. If you spawned lvl 60 with a full set of solid gear that could be fairly popular. Not like raid gear but maybe preraid BiS or close to it. That would also be SUPER useful for ppl that wanna try out various classes to decide what they wanna lvl on blue/green/teal/purple/orange/whatever. Pretty good idea all around imo. Delete Red and make it happen!

He's not really wrong though. The nature of Everquest means the monitor-tanned neckbeards will soon dominate the server, locking down the good content and gear, and the rest of the players will just go back to Green/Blue.

A MMORPG has to be designed with PvP in mind from the beginning or it doesn't work., and Everquest certainly wasn't designed for PvP.

If you keep common tongue, low INT races should start with 30 or 35 in the skill at best.

Humans 100 because its their only language. Intelligent races like 70?
That'd be cool but make it able to degrade on which race languages you talk to(roll your skill vs theirs for chance to improve/diminish)

Eliminate global and zonewide channels. /say /gsay and /tell only.

I agree.

Make death and getting mediocre items easy and not time consuming. Make the mediocre items pretty common and pvE gained (functional in pvp). With tons of variety everywhere.

Add a tier of good and elite items u can get in pvp.

Balance out immunities and G-d modes so they are only temporary and on a delay.

Make it so a full group of shit tier characters if they are good players can eventually kill and defend against a single G-d character and player.

Make G-d items exceedingly rare. Find a way to take G-d teir items and plat or points outa the game on a seasonal bases per character without resets.

Make tradeskills a fun meaningful part of the PvE experience with some potential to craft some tradeable G-d teir pvp items with ultra rare ingredients that can be traded for.

Make it ez for ppl to play alts to avoid situations where they cannot rly play or progress anymore cuz getting griefed. Encourage players to let go of some goals and come back later instead of poopsocking the same 5 legacy items for 3 years.

That would create a winning pvp mmo. Add in fun stuff like sieges, big pvp battle events. For prestige and fun prizes and you got E-sports level gold.

You just described Elder Scrolls Online for the most part.

I really want tradeskills to be worthwhile in Everquest. They never were in classic (not sure even after classic). In a game like ESO crafting is almost essential, or it's at least so useful that crafted gear sets can be almost as useful as the rarest gear drops, and with a huge variety of bonuses and effects. There's even gear that drops that's designed to be dismantled for extra skill-up points instead of worn (you raise tradeskills by deconstructing items in that game. It's unique and it works great.)

In Everquest you get cultural armor which is yawn-worthy and way too complex to craft for what it's worth. Except for fletching and maybe alchemy Everquest tradeskills were mostly for roleplaying or helping newbies get a leg-up with banded armor or something, and eventually a rare few quests.

I'm starting to think I should be playing ESO again lol.

Ya. ESO was OK.

It didn't grab me tho.

Not because of the game play.

I love hate that ESO universe and lore...I felt kinda inundated with PvE and fetch quests and collection stuff. EQ2 had that same problem 10x worse. Usually wow makes this 10x more entertaining. Classic EQ is completely off rails and sandbox ftw.

U can still actually level OK in wow without overmuch questing. They made SL way to "story quest" heavy. So to play alts u need to play like 16 days of storyline and "chore quests" to catch up in time gated chunks. Which absolutely kills the game.
