I heard someone say exactly the same thing when I played the open beta of Final Fantasy 14 and gave a scathing review of it as unplayably bad.

Every single Squeenix fanboy was saying *exactly* what you are saying, and they were all wrong. In fact, every fanboy of every overhyped game that made mistakes and released unfinished, buggy, in a poor state, or badly botched the recipe of its game series said exactly what you are saying. And after the game comes out and it's exactly like Oblivion X-2 and the only people who think it's fantastic are Oblivion Johnny come Latelies, you'll go back to your other refrain of "you're overly picky and a pretentious moron so you just can't appreciate what a great game it was", even though you were wrong about all the substantive things you defended about it.

It's ironic that you scream 'the game isn't even out yet' and yet you are defending it based on a sheer supposition that the game that's coming out in a few months is going to be fundamentally different from what we see being mass hyped and marketed by the developers themselves on the internet. Maybe it's you who should "learn the first thing about the gaming industry", because you sure don't sound like you know what you're talking about.

It's Final Fantasy. It's bad because they've been fucking up since 8. Oblivion was only a half-screw up. It wasn't unplayable. Stow it.

I also never said Oblivion was great, what the hell are you talking about? I said it was great with mods. What I was defending was Skyrim, a good looking game that hasn't had enough details released to make a completely informed opinion on it, but yet everyone feels content to say it's going to suck.

Fuck yourself. No game in the history of the industry has ever been fully known to the general public until release. The only exceptions are open betas. I never said it was going to be fundamentally different either. Actually read the damn posts next time. What I DID say is that they aren't telling us about the whole game. We don't know if the massive dungeons are going to be a copy paste fest. We don't know exactly how overhyped the dialog is (or even IF it is).

Also, this quote is what I was yelling about. I made the mistake of truncating it, so let me spell it out for you:

At least in Daggerfall/Morrowind, you could ask for directions to nearly any major landmark in a city, as well as local gossip that may or may not lead to quests or be related to anything other than fleshing out local flavour. Can't even do that in Oblivion / Skyrim.

No one has played this game. How the hell can you even ASSUME you can or can't do something in the game unless you've been explicitly told about it. Also fuck Stormhowl again, you got random quests by overhearing certain lines being spoken between NPC's in Oblivion.

if that was really, truly his point (which I find rather offtopic in a thread discussing Skyrim, not what constitutes a valid point), it was not by any stretch of the imagination clear within his posts due to the volume and severity of the crap he was flinging at anyone who was the least bit passionate about a discussion on game design related to an upcoming release.
