Don't break the rules and you will be fine, I'd think. I haven't heard of anyone claiming they've been wrongly banned for multiboxing and the GMs understand a cleric spends 90+% of their time sitting. The people who call the GM's Nazi's and stuff are usually the people who did something wrong.
My husband was banned from the forums for calling the mods/devs nazi's.

Rule #1: Don't piss off Uthgaard.

Even if you think he's wrong, don't piss him off. If you do piss him off, don't go public about it. It will end poorly for you. He has no obligation to you.

If you ever have a problem with him, do not bring it to the (public)boards. Post your concerns with any screenshots/logs/fraps in the petitions forum.

You'll have a lot better luck taking it up in private with him/the other GMs/devs then going public with your gripes.

My husband, brother-in-law and I all are on different computers but live in the same household. So basically, if we get approved for IP exemption for three accounts and get to group, then we all will always have to keep moving around in fights to show we're not multiple-boxing? If my BIL plays a cleric, then he can't really sit still to heal us because there is no way to prove he is a separate person? I'm so excited to play with them again, but feeling a little overwhelmed with the risks to just be able to play and not get constantly suspected of breaking rules, with no way to truly prove innocence. Does anyone else play easily with more than one other person in the house?
There's an element of common sense involved. We have a lot of ways of checking without you ever knowing we did it. There's a dramatic difference between someone who is 2boxing and someone who isn't, and it's never a snap decision. We've all made mistakes, but everyone who takes the time to talk to us calmly and doesn't start spamming the forums with 'omg uthgaard/amelinda/hobby/whoever suxxxors' gets responded to.

I bend over backwards to help people who are polite. But I'll go just as far out of my way to make someone regret being a dick.

As uthgaard said...world of difference. It's never a snap decision. Unless you are so blatant you might as well be holding a neon sign that says 'I AM 2-BOXING' then before I summon you and talk to you I have watched you a good 6 RL hours or so :P

That's reassuring, I just posted a request for me and my two friends and I don't know how else to prove we are different people except for someone to watch us.

I've had an IP exemption with my girlfriend for over a year and not once have I been accused of two-boxing, even when 99% of our playtime together has been me PLing one of her characters, which may be seen as suspicious. It's not like if one of us goes AFK without throwing up an AFK tag then the two boxing witch hunt comes and tries to burn us at the stake. Most people I've encountered are very understanding and only voice their suspicions about possible two-boxers when there's a lot of evidence against them.

In the petition/exploit forum, it is stated that part of the required information includes "account names". Does this refer to the EQ-emu login account, or the forum account?

It also mentions "character names", but if one were to create more characters on their account, would that be necessary to include, since that information could constantly change?

I wouldn't worry much about the 2-boxing thing unless you actually do it. As for logging in and out and buffing, I don't think they would consider that boxing. For instance, my daughter and I are making characters to plant at the major cities (Qeynos, Freeport and Greater Faydark). If we can't find anybody (or anybody willing) we will be able to bind each others' characters, and anyone else we see that needs it, at anytime. As long as you have one character under your control and only one, you should be ok.

If you want to see a lot of logging characters, you should have seen when I was trying to get my Ogre into Freeport (now I've given up cause I think something is wrong) but I was running my "good" character to do the Janam/Rebby Quest then dropping the items and logging in my "evil" character to pick up the items and turn them in. Thats two characters logging in/out every 4 minutes for hours. After about 4x normal (classic) turn ins, I finally had to reroll and let it go cause the faction just wouldn't move (it went to the next highest KOS (glares I think) and stopped). If all that logging didn't cause any problems, I dont think logging in a couple times to port each other will get you kicked as you're not violating the rules that I know of.

Dang, now I wish faction worked, I miss my Ogre... oh well, the ranger is fun as well. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
