Probably why you even think it's a "textbook" word. I haven't heard anyone my age seriously use "bud" or "bro" in the past 15 years.

Lol I didn’t say it, the other “bud bro” did. I was making fun of him for using those words.

You’re right though, I haven’t heard anyone of reasonable intelligence use those phrases in a long time.
