Would it be considered RMT to hire a team of nerds to camp it for me?

I'm on a list right now. I just clicked the AFK box and in about 4 mins I find out if I move up to the #1 spot. Meanwhile I'm watching the teevee. Oh it's so hard.

Oh I do. I was literally about to /list last week, decided "the item isn't going away in a week, I can wait one more", and screwed myself over. There is massive self-flagellation here.

But none of that changes the fact that infinite lists are unclassic, and unclassically benefit account sharers. Now (with the merger), it's to the extent on some lists that a single player literally cannot do them without going for multiple nights in a row without sleep (something no doctor would ever advise).

Changing /lists to include an element of randomness makes them more classic (live GMs, the classic list maintainers, clocked out after 8 hours), makes it so people can sleep, and ... perhaps most importantly of all ... makes list items work like every other desired item in the game: not guaranteed to the most pathetic (some of whom are the very same people who cry about "welfare pixels"), but won by combination of perseverance and good luck.

You are just the wrong guy to be making a thread like this, Laura. Most of us Teals feel the same way about the merge. Just doesn't sound good coming from the dude who constantly posts about stuff he wants in game and tries to pass it off as being better for everyone.

Just curious, what do I ever post about wanting in-game except more classic P99? I mean yes, I've done one list, and I'd like to do another ... so that somehow invalidates my opinion?

Even if I had no personal participation whatsoever in lists, I'd still think a better and more classic system is a better and more classic system.

Don't you also argue for non classic things like GM enforced rotations? Sorry, might have you confused with someone else.

I am with you on this one though, as are all the people I know from teal.

I do [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] GM-enforced rotations are both classic and unclassic, depending on which server you're talking about and what mobs/what point in the timeline you're talking about.

For instance, Sleeper's and VP were of course never rotated in the classic era, but on some servers Vox/Naggy were. On my server (Bristlebane) Vox/Naggy were rotated, but not until Luclin (we had a message board where you could "raffle" for a shot at them, and I won the right to lead a Vox raid ... which ended up being one of my fondest memories on live).

And then there's Blue. When we compare it to say Bristlebane, of course that server got Luclin raid targets and we won't. So it comes down to what part of classic do you want to emulate, the part where the "AA crowd" got to monopolize content initially, of the part where the rest of the server got to see if after awhile? To me this place is not, or at least shouldn't be just about re-creating EQ for the 1% who have the good fortune to be able to "out-compete" the other 99%.

So getting back to the live comparison, yes Velious and earlier mobs are apples, and Luclin mobs are oranges, and you can't compare them. But we've had what, 8+? more years of raiding Kunark mobs than live ever had? The same players have alt after alt full of BiS loot: we've gotten crate after crate of apples!

So even if we don't have any oranges, maybe it's time to start doing what Live did when they had less than one crate of oranges. But again, it's not clear what is/isn't classic so I never say rotations are or aren't, I just argue that they're classic enough to be appropriate, and I think they would be more fun for almost everyone here.

Tunare had GM forced rotations. When guilds tried to impose themselves on a agreed upon rotation they were removed, temp banned in some case, and in 1 case a guild was disbanded completely.
