I did the poll, but my ideal group would change drastically in certain zones. Sometimes you don't need a CC. sometimes you'd rather have caster vs spell dps and vice versa. But in general it's safe to say you almost never want some classes in an ideal exp group.

I think it just depends. I can think of situations I would want each and every class. I'd like to hear what classes you would never want and why? Just debating, all in good fun, in the non ideal world EQ really is most people just want good likeable people to group with that know how to play their class for the most part. Wizard is the class with the least amount of spots that I would prefer them in an ideal group.

As a Cleric, I love Enchanters; but they are very squishy. Many times I have seen a group torn asunder by a stray mob with a lust for Chanter blood. Then again, I love Clarity... It's kinda situational.

I chose Bard because they're more durable. You may be asking, "Then why choose a Mage over <insert suggestion here>?"

I feel the Mage is underestimated. Her pets can be great DPS (focus items, the damage shield on the fire pet if tanking) and it's almost like adding an additional member to the group. The Mage herself can nuke and summon Dimensional Holes and Pockets, which are fantastic for collecting heavy, valuable weapons.

Monk for pulling, War/SK as tank, and Shaman buffs are fantastic etc etc.

Also, It's much faster to have a Shadowknight summon your corpse out of Sebilis instead of having the Monk feign there and back, so for dungeons, I think I'd choose a well equipped Shadowknight.

Rangers would be my choice for smaller groups of 3-4 because of their versatility.

As a bard I'm a little saddened by the lack of desire for my class. I guess I've seen a lot of shitty bards in my time so it's no wonder the desirability isn't as high as I hoped. If you've grouped with a good bard that adapts to every situation appropriately and effortlessly then you'd want a bard in all of your groups. Trust me. A bard can fulfill every role in a pinch. You'll be happy you have one when your enchanter or tank goes down.
