Why not? That, too, is arbitrary. There's little to no scientific backing to a claim that culling unwanted offspring is always wrong. Many species, and even human societies of the past and present, practice it regularly. I can accept arguments in opposition to that practice, but said arguments are typically of an arbitrary nature at their core.

So using your logic, you're cool with euthanizing the mentally disabled and catatonic.
I'll say this much, I'd support the culling of known pedophiles for starters. Some folks are broken and don't belong on this earth. Don't bother with slippery slope arguments...we're talking hypothetical here, not policy, so keep it intellectually honest.

The two groups you list don't bug me overmuch because they don't really hurt anyone else, at least not directly. Arguments proposing their euthanizing usually boil down to "drain upon society" arguments, which I reject as irrelevant. Everyone's a drain on society in some way or another. On the other hand, neither do I have any strong opposition towards unplugging the brain-damaged and allowing nature to take its course, particularly if its the wish of their next-of-kin.

this is a straw man as it gets you can't this is just ridiculous this is just a straw man argument there plenty of animals that have sex and then eat each other that doesn't mean by any logical stretch of imagination that we should consider allowing that.

it's not arbitrary what I'm saying when I'm saying is the least arbitrary of all the concepts that have been laid out so far if the egg is fertilized it is a person.

That of all options is the least arbitrary and most logical and scientific.

wait a minuet also are you telling me Danth that you think the reason we have abortion is to cull the weak?

That literally is eugenics.

Which is ironic because that's why Abortion was invented.

Oh well. Obviously nobody here has strong enough convictions and is knowledgable enough to prove in a conversation that abortion is anything more than a solution to a problem for young people who want to fuck while they're high on drugs.

I can see why liberals want to shut down all conversation, cus there is no defending their idiologies. Not any of them.

Not ONE person can give me an actual reason why abortion is not murder.

Not one of you can.

No, that's a misinterpretation, but it's fair since I didn't spell things out either. I think the reason we have it is--from a moral standpoint it's even worse--simply for the sake of convenience.

Varies state to state, which is part of the problem. The federal government pushed abortion but left it to the states to handle the rest of it.

But of course it's easy to force fatherhood upon men. Well, at least it's as easy to do that as it is to force motherhood upon women. I mean...you cannot actually force a woman to carry the child to term. Under-the-table and illegal abortions are a thing, and existed even in societies as conservative as victorian Britain. All you can do is toss the gal in jail if she gets caught. Well...same for dudes, they can either man up or get tossed in the clink. Life has consequences.....fair's fair. Sorry dudes, but I got no sympathy at all for scumbag guys who want to play around then leave the entirety of the consequence for that joint activity solely on the girl.

---------------------

As an aside, Mick...you probably notice (and probably take a little confusion in the fact) that I argue on both sides of the abortion question. That's because I can live with it either way it goes, but within the confines of either side of it I prefer to see things done in as fair a manner as possible. I appreciate that you actually offer real discussion....this is an emotional subject and a lot of people can't discuss it flatly.
