This thread provides a perfect example of why I detest PVP in an MMORPG fantasy environment.

eq pvp is so messed up i cant imagine trying to moderate a server like that... i'll just say it so many hacks are undetectable and people use those to the nth degree

PvP is easier to moderate than a PvE server.

You fight over pixels with other players, not suck the GMs tits for handouts, slaps on the wrist, or other problems that you people like to get yourselves into with little danger.

Furthermore, I will provide as evidence that PvPers are low maintenance enough to play on a broken ass old school emu platform for 4 years before a classic everquest experience was even a twinkle in your eye.

60% of you guys ever play Emu before p99? Thank the people before you who continued the legend. Box celebs draw in the crowd, and the people want to see them do work.

I love pvp, hense my pvp events i had hosted for the entire server for 3 weeks. What i do not like is watching thread after thread being made in regards to a new server that is not even a 100% sure thing as of right now...and then moved due to being in the wrong section. If you "like this server" so much, then stop adding extra work for us to do on the forum.

It appears clear to me what the devs have wanted to create a Classic EQ EMU server and they have done a great job. I could be wrong but I don't think this particular EMU is designed to be what "YOU" want. I am here because THIS server is what I want. If it wasn't, I would not be playing here. They respectfully have asked us to assist them in a couple minor ways. Donations, Mild critique of its classic feel and lore, Bug spotting and play-testing.

It is quite apparent, by the "leet" speak and the use of made up words like pwnage etc. that a few people get their kicks by PVP and possibly other various ways of self gratification involving a bottle of lotion and some Kleenex followed by a trip to the 7-11 on a Saturday night. While defeating someone may bring with it some sense of accomplishment it will never make up for "other" inadequacies that usually follow those who have some ingrained need for virtual (ok I'll say it) pwnage. Since it appears, by following the various threads here that this server has had "cheaters" MQers etc. (I looked it up) Seriously, people cheating on a PVE server? Really? C'mon really? I would guess, considering how important virtual...victory is to some that cheating would be much more common.

It appears that the devs here have lives, expenses and families. Why in the world would they want to bring such turmoil into their lives as a PVP server has been known to do? The work involved to keep people honest, policing the cheaters and keeping the gameplay fair would be...daunting.

EDIT: Also, gaining profit from any EMU server PVP or otherwise I believe would go against the EULA. So bribing someone to make one would also be a slippery slope.

I think there should be a PVP sub-forum.
I also think that there should be an option to put that sub-forum on ignore just like rants and flames.

One thing I have yet to understand is why everyone who likes pvp seems to get lumped in and stereotyped with the few nutjob asshats who start shit. Comments have been made in this post and the forums lumping "you pvp types" into one group of subhumans based on the verbal diarrhea of a few that play the current pvp server here.

I don't play the pvp server here, but I always loved the pvp option in my MMO's. Should I lump all you "pve only" people into one stereotyped group based the garbage posted by a few? Would it really be sensible for me to do that? Or is it impossible for anyone who actually enjoys pvp to be a decent human being? Are there really no pve loving dickheads on these forums? Do they speak for all of you and represent you and your character by mere preferential association?

Realistically, the problem is not with needing to put an entire forum on ignore, but rather the few shitheads, pvp and pve alike, who have nothing positive to add and bring out the worst in all of us. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
