![]() In all seriousness though, here are my thoughts on being in a number 1 guild on a server.
I’m an enchanter in Divinity. Let’s say for the sake of argument that we are the number 3 guild on the server based purely on progression, mobs killed or what have you. Could I be the best enchanter on the server but decide to stick with Divinity (the number 3 guild) because they are an awesome bunch of people? I sure could! It just so happens I’m not the best enchanter on the server, heck I’m not even in the top three. On the flip side I could be one of the worst enchanters on the server but for whatever reason Divinity decides to keep me around because I make them laugh, or they think I’m slow in the head and they feel sorry for me…. or something. So being in a number 2 or 3 guild does not say anything about how good I am. Now if I were to ditch my in game family to join IB for example, would that elevate my status as a player? Certainly not to my former guild mates or the community at large. To them I would be known as “that punk ass bitch Chicanery who ditched his friends for easy loots”. So in my humble opinion, the guild that you are in is far from being the be all end all of who you are as a player. /bow

![]() Well said, except the part where you imply that we don't work for our loots.

I meant no disrespect. It wasn't about the loot being easy for the guild to get. It was the mind set of the guild hopper in my example. A crappy player can still win a roll on an item that he would not be able to acquire if he wasn't in a top guild.

![]() el oh el @ this thread.
As far as the guild hopping thing goes. I'm really big on loyalty; however, loyalty does have it's limits. Just because you leave one guild for a "better" (as far as progression goes) guild, doesn't necessarily mean you left for loot. I've left a number of guilds for a variety of reasons in the 9 years or so I've played EQ and while there certainly were a few people that disliked me for leaving, I always had a justifiable reason and most of my friends in my former guilds didn't hold it against me. I think it's funny if you leave the #3 guild for the #1 guild people get all pissed off, but if you leave the #3 guild for like the #10 guild or something, no one really cares. Think that speaks a lot to the motivation behind people's anger (jealous, envy, selfishness) in those situations.

![]() well, i personally don't believe in playing in a guild with nice people who are good at the game and also fun to be around, that's why i haven't ever considered joining IB

![]() I knew I should have just made up guild names... meh
But somebody still would have accused me of trying to talk smack. Let's try again: ---------------------------------------- In all seriousness though, here are my thoughts on being in a number 1 guild on a server. I’m an enchanter in GuildX. Let’s say for the sake of argument that we are the number 3 guild on the server based purely on progression, mobs killed or what have you. Could I be the best enchanter on the server but decide to stick with GuildX (the number 3 guild) because they are an awesome bunch of people? I sure could! It just so happens I’m not the best enchanter on the server, heck I’m not even in the top three. On the flip side I could be one of the worst enchanters on the server but for whatever reason Divinity decides to keep me around because I make them laugh, or they think I’m slow in the head and they feel sorry for me…. or something. So being in a number 2 or 3 guild does not say anything about how good I am. Now if I were to ditch my in-game family to join GuildZ (number 1 guild on server) for example, would that elevate my status as a player? Certainly not to my former guild mates or the community at large. To them I would be known as “that punk ass bitch PlayerY who ditched his friends for easier (to obtain when compared to other guilds who are not on the same tier yet) loots”. So in my humble opinion, the guild that you are in is far from being the be all end all of who you are as a player. -------------------------------------- Yargh, is that better? (I was not trying to talk smack.)

My post was not about guild hoping, it was about what exactly being in a number 1 guild means with regards to an individual player in said guild. You guys all missed my point... [You must be logged in to view images.
