This post inspired me to start playing D2. Unfortunately I didnt have a working CD key, so I'm just playing single player, and I'm too wimpy to do hardcore, but I'm still having fun! Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm glad you got back into it! Just FYI, you can now buy Diablo 2 and Diablo 2 expansion keys (and download the respective clients) via the Battle.net shop under "Classic Games", $10 a piece.

Yes, the game really is not the same without the expansion. The gathering and creating of Runewords is a blast.

It is a good thing I'm a gold collector, because I had to resurrect my merc, no joke, at least 6 times, maybe 9 or 10. Diablo would slay my skellingtons in a hit or two, and then it was my merc all the way. He would do well against normal attacks but Diablo would 1-shot him with the chain lightning attack he does. All I could imagine was Pratham shouting, "I live! I die! I live again!" Valhallllaaaaaa

And it's on to Act 5....

you using decrep/clay golem for the bosses? makes them a lot more manageable, killing speed doesn't matter so much if they are slowed and dealing a fraction of their normal damage. obv. amp damage is better for most things, I don't think it helps that much for the bosses though.

Naw, haven't tried Decrepify and Golem, but that is a really good idea. I'm a put a point into it tonight.

god diablo 2 was such a good game, diablo 3 was such a piece of shit, what happened

clay golem slow, decrep slow, and cold damage slow all stack. bosses literally crawl with all 3 in effect...
