This is 2016, not early 90s when the internet was something just nerds were using. Maybe not an emulator of a 17 year old game, but people meet all the time IRL with people they meet from online shit.

No stigma about internet relationships here. Have you ever been to Sodor? Theres more bloody trains than there are actually people. Good luck getting a one-nighter here, let alone any meaningful relationship.

And picking fights on an internet forum is something any reasonable and well-adjusted person would do.

Quit EQ in 2004...or 05. The year WoW was released. About 3 months later my buddy got me in to WoW.

I didn't guild for a long time because I was tired of that seen which was a shit storm in EQ. It wasn't just a shit storm, but I was tired of it.

2 months later in WoW, I met a dude that helped me with some quests in Black Rock Spires. His buddies came and hooked me up with all sorts of help.

He then asked me to join his guild....and said "They would make an exception for me". I didn't get that so I asked what he meant. The guild was ....I think Le Falcons Argentes. It was a French only guild. Everyone in that guild didn't exactly know each other but they were all from either Montreal or Quebec city.

After joining them and getting in to the raid scene. It was great. They were really good people. I didn't understand a damn word in Vent but they would either bust out with some quick broken English or /w me instructions on raids. They went out of their way to make the ONLY English speaking dude they allowed in guild to fit in with them.

Couple years later they said they were having a get together and offered to pay for my plane flight up. I paid my own way and had a blast with everyone.

FUNNIEST thing ever. Not one of them was fat and/or a neck beard. They were all very hospitable and great people who I wouldn't mind befriending. Eventually I moved to VT and drove up to Montreal almost every weekend to visit these really cool people and became personal friends with a few of them.

-------

That is why a person like me, normal, abnormal, or whatever you think I am; Will always stay with BDA. They are those types of folks who are cool, fun to hang with in game and (because I've yet to go to one of the meets) are awesome to hang with in RL.

/tears flowing

When you put it into Aesop Fables perspective it makes perfect sense.

Either way, I really hope dude is just trolling. If he doesn't consider any of his guildmates friends then this thread just got super depressing.

You can tell by the weekly "My guild fucked me and turned their back" threads that people here are really good friends with each other, and not a group of socially inept weirdos bound together by their pathetic quest for old pixels and willingness to lick asshole for a year to get something. Slurp slurp it up man, you rock

That's like saying that people don't leave the Amish. It's mostly true, but the real reason for it is fear of shunning.
