"Thoughtcrime?"

Seriously, dude? I mean, there's simply no such fucking thing in our advanced, superior culture. No one is going to prison for thoughtcrime. If they were, though, I bet they'd be converting to Islam.

But honestly, I don't imagine the French are going to start evicting Muslims or gassing them or whatever it is people think they should do. I mean, they're proud of their global reputation, and a city doesn't become recognized as a cultural mecca by embracing xenophobia.

It's not a dichotomy between multiculturalism and violent fascism. It's not like because I'm not a cultural relativist I don't respect that they are human beings who simply have different beliefs than me. It's one thing to allow immigration into your country with the firm expectation that they endeavor to become French. It's another to abolish your borders and allow millions of foreigners to enter your country and establish totally un-managed, segregated, parallel societies full of people who, instead of changing to adapt to their new host culture, support things like Sharia law. And it's not a simple issue. Part of what maintains the gulf between the immigrant community and the native French is racism and bigotry, so you get stuff like this in an attempt to make people colorblind and ease integration, even though cultural incompatibility (think fundamentalist Muslim vs. Atheist) creates a much larger gulf between two individuals than race ever could:

But then you also have a culture that isn't particularly amenable to assimilation. So it's tough. However, multiculturalism is something that makes approaching the challenges posed by this situation completely impossible.

When have I ever offered any pretense that I'm anything other than a reclusive basement dweller? lol

I literally wrote a poem about Everquest earlier today

But by all means, try to silence casual discussion simply because you disagree with it, because that's not a hallmark of a terrible person or anything.

You're talking to someone who fully supports the actions of Melissa Click. Silencing ideas that he doesn't agree with is his favorite pasttime. I guarantee he's already gone to the forum mods to report this thread for thought crimes.
