You are correct, but I suspect we differ on what we think it means.
I think it means people are beyond partisan. You think it means Oz was a terrible candidate. Oz wasn't a great candidate for sure. Fetterman is for sure unfit for office.

Oh I agree with that, but that's who the voters chose. Him going explicitly against the liberal stereotypes that the right holds about liberals probably helped him in the center. I also kind of wonder how much Oprah's anti-endorsement helped Fetterman. Oprah has real clout. Dr. Oz has always been a very poisonous personality to emerge from the Oprahverse. Behind the Bastards did an interesting series on his background.
What's weirdest is he is an accomplished surgeon who has literally saved lives, but for some people that isn't enough. I imagine a universe where Dr. Oz gets in a bad car accident, loses the use of his hands, and has to learn sorcery in a misguided attempt to fix himself only to become Sorceror Supreme.
