To be fair I read this thing that the republican tax plan lowered our taxes but each year incrementally increase it so we pay more in 2027 than we did in 2016.

Now I'm not arguing because I live a life where the money I get back seems random to me, so I know like less than zilch about the difference a president has on my taxes, but maybe the political play here is:

They create these confusing yearly increasing tax laws and every 7 do a tax cut to become the hero again. The bonus this infinite loop has is, as long as we keep electing them we pay less taxes, but if we elect a Dem the taxes just keep going up until we snap, elect a republican, and then they repeat the process.

I bet if someone looked hard enough that's what's been going on for like 40 years.
