It detracts from the meaning and role of a class, especially if you can just change it whenever you want to. It also tends to make everyone blandly similar in a variety of ways that harms gameplay and immersion.
Similar? Sounded to me like it was offering some crazy amounts of customization. Better than having the exact same skillset as every player of your class, in that regard.

Game devs have yet to prove that they can actually come up with a large variety of skill/class combos that are relevant and in demand at any given time. More often than not they create a "core" system with everything else ending up as neglected fluff. People will optimize and ignore the useless stuff so instead of more options everyone will be running around with the "best" setup.

This.

It just makes everyone be able to do everything. No dedication to a class. It's like the dual classing and talent system in WOW. Or how scenarios in WOW don't require a healer or tank. It's just like... what's the point of picking a class when it doesn't matter?

Least it gets rid of posts like "What class does this server need?"

You say this, but The Secret World proves you wrong pretty spectacularly.

Everyone is going to be playing the same OP class combination. That one aspect of the game was the most disappointing to me.
See a lot of Rangers and Wizards lately?

I think its funny people are bashing the game based off wow like graphics, which obviously have no relevance in the games we play. We are playing on p99....

Gameplay is what will matter. The harsh penalties, the fear of making a bad choice, and having to deal with the consequences. Also the social interaction and the need for it to be the absolute foundation to the immersion of this game.

All of which have not been revealed. So if you are going to speculate on anything, it should be those things.

Sure they showed a couple of devs running on gm created and pre-skilled classes. Your inability to see past this is laughable. Everything they have revealed has not truly shown the harshness of fighting something against your skill level, the group mechanics, the penalties for death, travel, etc.

Go back to rnf, maybe learn some things before comming in here and shitting up a thread with unintelligent statements.
