I don't have any problems with TMO. They are playing with the stupid variance framework which is what I really have a problem with.

In this thread I simply answered the OP's question by making a prediction that there will be massive douchebaggery going on when Velious launches: every guild will try to hold down camps 24/7 as much as they can, and the huge high-leveled well-geared returning player base will allow everyone to do this. TMO will be more effective at it probably but everyone will try just because the competition will be so fierce.

Alarti is simply pissing into the wind trying to troll me.
Not trolling you. What is your argument first you mention a raid rule. Then you talk about holding down camps?

If variance is in Velious it will be stupid. But before you were talking about loot camps and now its raiding? Make up your mind.

The sad thing is, I'm not even looking forward to Velious anymore.
And I've talked to other people who feel the same way.

On the other hand, I'd LOVE it if they would release a brand new server when velious drops. I love to start over at level 1, and progress all the way through. I'm sure a lot of people would.

There is only 1 solution imo: a new server that launches at precisely the same time as Velious so people have to choose.
Perfect time to launch a PvP-teams server.

Or at least a "Purple" server with PvP-enabled raid zones and one-hour notice spawn announcements.

Anything to avoid a repeat of the pathetic, laughable, totally non-classic "competition" that goes along with high-end raiding here.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go purchase a few more characters to camp out around Norrath at various raid targets.

Because camping out for instant engages will be applicable in velious? Derp

I have zero doubt TMO will keep an army of alts camped out at strategic raiding locations, possibly even keeping an alt raid force on a separate faction specifically to block other guilds. Why wouldn't you? You're not stupid. Everyone knows you have the accounts to do so. And you and your guild clearly revel in "crushing the competition" with that kind of behavior.

I think it's a weird and pathetic sort of playstyle, but you're entitled to it under the current ruleset.

If there was a new server, though, I don't think anyone is interested in having a repeat of the mistakes that were made here that led the current situation, which no one outside of TMO seems to enjoy. And frankly, I don't think very many people actually like you or your guild, and would rather play on a server without you, or at least have the opportunity to kill you in response to your behavior.

I'm sure you can find a raid guild on red you will love to hate and have a chance to PK.

Just saying.

You would dislike this server *much* more if it was pvp enabled with TMO's current #'s / gear advantage. They don't play nice when it comes to competition.

You are absolutely trolling me. I started with a blindingly obvious proposition (massive cockblocking in Velious), you did your old 'more evidence' routine, I posted more, and every time you nitpicked something until finally the only thing you could find was that I had two separate topics in two separate paragraphs. THE HORROR.

On a more serious note, I really like the idea of a 'purple' server with most zones blue but a few of them red. For example in classic Fear/Hate would be PVP all the time, Sol B/Perma/Kedge would be PVP while the bosses were up with an extra hour of padding, and there would be rotating PVP hotzones (say splitpaw is double XP for a week but pvp or something). Basically the goal would be to get the best parts of red (PVP over bosses) without the retarded parts (corpse campers, griefers by the bank, etc). We'd have most of the bugs worked out and could follow the classic timeline exactly which would also rock.

I posted this exact idea in the proposed raiding changes thread, and the TMO crew predictably shat all over it since it would entail some accountability for their behavior.

But despite their objections, a Purple server would indeed seem to be the best for a new ruleset. It would allow for real competition between high end guilds without alienating new players with PvP griefing. And casual players wouldn't have to experience any PvP whatsoever if they didn't join a raiding guild. It would also eliminate the need for poopsocking targets and camping out alts, which in turn decreases the need to fight for every raid target to gear out an army of alts as well as the need to purchase and hoard characters. And server politics would become a factor, as guild alliances would be extremely important, since they would regulate and discourage the kind of anti-social behavior exhibited currently by TMO.

In short, the guild competition would be better, the game would be less poopsocky and the importance of personal and guild alliances would increase drastically. You get all the benefits of PvP at the high end and none of the drawbacks for everyone else.

I would really like to hear any legitimate criticism of this idea to help flesh it out.

You and these "other people" are the first I have ever, ever heard of who aren't excited about Velious (even though it may still be a year or more away? Who knows?).

You sicken me!
