If variance is in Velious it will be stupid. But before you were talking about loot camps and now its raiding? Make up your mind.

The sad thing is, I'm not even looking forward to Velious anymore.
And I've talked to other people who feel the same way. On the other hand, I'd LOVE it if they would release a brand new server when velious drops. I love to start over at level 1, and progress all the way through. I'm sure a lot of people would.

Or at least a "Purple" server with PvP-enabled raid zones and one-hour notice spawn announcements. Anything to avoid a repeat of the pathetic, laughable, totally non-classic "competition" that goes along with high-end raiding here. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go purchase a few more characters to camp out around Norrath at various raid targets.

I think it's a weird and pathetic sort of playstyle, but you're entitled to it under the current ruleset. If there was a new server, though, I don't think anyone is interested in having a repeat of the mistakes that were made here that led the current situation, which no one outside of TMO seems to enjoy. And frankly, I don't think very many people actually like you or your guild, and would rather play on a server without you, or at least have the opportunity to kill you in response to your behavior.

Isn't the complete clusterfuck that is the first few weeks after an expansion launches the fun part?!?!

I'm sure you can find a raid guild on red you will love to hate and have a chance to PK.
Just saying. You would dislike this server *much* more if it was pvp enabled with TMO's current #'s / gear advantage. They don't play nice when it comes to competition.

On a more serious note, I really like the idea of a 'purple' server with most zones blue but a few of them red. For example in classic Fear/Hate would be PVP all the time, Sol B/Perma/Kedge would be PVP while the bosses were up with an extra hour of padding, and there would be rotating PVP hotzones (say splitpaw is double XP for a week but pvp or something). Basically the goal would be to get the best parts of red (PVP over bosses) without the retarded parts (corpse campers, griefers by the bank, etc). We'd have most of the bugs worked out and could follow the classic timeline exactly which would also rock.

But despite their objections, a Purple server would indeed seem to be the best for a new ruleset. It would allow for real competition between high end guilds without alienating new players with PvP griefing. And casual players wouldn't have to experience any PvP whatsoever if they didn't join a raiding guild. It would also eliminate the need for poopsocking targets and camping out alts, which in turn decreases the need to fight for every raid target to gear out an army of alts as well as the need to purchase and hoard characters. And server politics would become a factor, as guild alliances would be extremely important, since they would regulate and discourage the kind of anti-social behavior exhibited currently by TMO. In short, the guild competition would be better, the game would be less poopsocky and the importance of personal and guild alliances would increase drastically. You get all the benefits of PvP at the high end and none of the drawbacks for everyone else. I would really like to hear any legitimate criticism of this idea to help flesh it out.
