Dude, enchanters are seriously fun. Everquest has the perfect leveling rate for someone new to the game. Enchanters work great with every class (you guys can fear kite). I would tell her to go with Enchanter if she was interested in it.

I'm surprised the gender-troll got as many bites as it did. Danyelle, nice try but you got hooked and realized it after clickin' to post that reply =)

By the way: glad the brony express has left your avatar. I swear that stuff makes even girly-girls into flaming queers. NTTAWWT... it's just sensory overload... as if Richard Simmons himself were reciting War and Peace in my head for infinity in a voice way too excited and upbeat for the material.

I am bi.

And I knew it was a troll before the edit. I edited it to confirm I knew that, but was making my point anyway :P

whole lot of dudes on their periods in this thread

1. girls suck at video games, hence they also suck at MMOs

2. MMOs are mostly populated by dudes, when they find out someone is a woman they attack each other like chimps

3. girls will fuck up and get yelled at, cry, get white knighted, see point 2

hence why girls should never be in guilds or given positions of authority in groups. This isn't some sort of crazy new phenomenon. and yeah there is an exception, her name is vella. thats the only one there is.

I tried to get a non-gamer ex-girlfriend into Counterstrike years ago. I found it was really helpful when I could associate stuff in the game with stuff with which she was familiar. For example, when I wrote her a noob guide for getting familiar with the weapons, I associated each pistol with a character from Saved By The Bell - this really helped her! Maybe you should adopt a similar approach and tie it to whatever dumb shit she's into, whether it's Jersey Shore or Sex in the City or Gilmore Girls or what have you.
jeremy ftw, as usual

After reading this thread throughout the day yesterday, she's decided on a wood elf druid for her first toon. I probably won't do any PLing as suggested but I might get a few lower level items for her to reduce the frequency of dying (and possible frustration). I'm also thinking that rolling a new toon for myself would be worthwhile too....maybe a monk or warrior. Anyways thanks for the tips and insight guys - it was quite helpful.

Enchanter is the most powerful class in the game, and can triple the productivity of any group combo they are in. Again, if she understands what an Enchaneter does and was immediately attracted to that class, she will not be interested in the others probably except for maybe a shaman.

She needs to be thick skinned to play an Enchanter. The class is rare and some people just don't really know how to group with an Enchanter. There will occassionally be the dumbass who doesn't umderstand that there was a slight delay in refreshing haste because you had to unexpectedly lock down 7 mobs that were trained or that there was a slight delay in mezzing as you had to regain control or Mez your high dps pet that can kill you in four swings if your not on point with stunning it the second charm wears off, etc.

You also have to have the ability to monitor how long buffs are lasting so you can refresh in time, get used to random people always asking for crack and haste, etc. The class requires an eye for detail, patience, intelligence, and a thick skin. If your gf has this she will not like other classes and will honestly regard them as too simple once she groups with a chanter and sees what they do. The fact that she chose an Enchanter this early and I Assume understNds what they are about is a good indicator.

Have her read the Xornn guide and if she likes it then it may be a good fit.

I think you have to have a somewhat submissive GF. The high-maintenance/difficult types that I prefer to date probably wouldn't even look at a computer game. Either that or have a level-2 ladder disparity (http://www.laddertheory.com/ladderconsequences.htm) warning, profane.

People usually are attracted to others who share similar interests or states of mind etc. There ARE actually women out there that do things like browse the internet or play games. And not all are the attention whoring "lol look at me playing call of duty I'm such a nerd XDXDXDXD don't hit on me silly boys" people like Tralina. Only idiots actually believe that whole "no women on the internet" shit is true.
lol
