Compared to modern MMOs I'm pretty sure EQ has the most severe penalty for mistakes. It is also probably one of the slowest leveling games. If either of those things do not sound appealing I'm not sure P99 is for you. Personally I find EQ relaxing.

BTW if you want to solo, but root/rot bores you try a necro or mage. Probably my favorite thing about EQ is that there are so many different ways play.

Cast shield of thistles and thistlecoat on yourself and smack them. They'll die beating on you. Nuke if your health goes down too fast. Then when the battle is over, cast treeform and just sit there as you regen HP and Mana. EZ mode.

I have alternated between root nuking and shield of thistles. When everything works I've killed yellows. Seems like last night my first nuke would break the root and then they would be on me and health would disapear really fast.

The shield of thistles method was working well at level 9 but it seems like I'm actually being missed too much at level 10 for it to work, but when they do hit its max damage. THe shield wares off before the mob dies.

The fact was just a real bad night of luck and I was getting stressed out for it. Sorry for the drama and complaining.

Either root/dot or snare/DD. Direct damage spells are more likely to break your roots.

Grab a SoW and clarity first though.
