I don't know if yellow text server wide is a good idea.
But i do think zone wide would work.
So you know if anythings going down in the zone.

Null is not some jackass bluebie - he knows what he's doing with the resist system. And since I've played more red than 99% of this forum, here's the reality check for the handful of vocal whiners: a strictly-classic resist system is utter shit. Degree of severity dependent on the era (Kunark was the closest to "balanced"), and gives Hardcore Neckbeard Raid Player an overwhelming advantage because he spent 90 hours in the planes getting Blue Diamond Everything.

It's a shitty, unfair system. Melees get screwed initially. And then Rangers, Enchanters, Clerics all get fucked once everyone breaks the MR hard cap.

Custom resist system: deal with it.

It was actually the exact opposite. Pure melee with terrible gear and 100MR were actually useful on EQ live. On VZTZ, if you didn't have the best gear on the server, there was no point in playing a melee over caster at all.

It was exactly what I said it was, and you are 100% wrong. I played on VZTZ more than anyone whose names don't rhyme with Suckle or Mexx.

The classic EQ resist system allowed you to become effectively immune to CC, stuns, magic-based nukes, etc. The gap between a melee with 50 MR and a melee with 110 MR was massive, and the fact that the curve allowed you to hit over 95% resistance to anything made it imbalanced to the point where several classes were rendered either useless or underpowered against anyone with moderate gear (Enchanters, Clerics, Rangers).

That same gap was less glaring on VZTZ, because the resist curve was smarter. The most you could flat-out resist a spell was in the 80's (rather than near-100%). Partial resists were frequent on CC spells. This prevented situations like someone landing an Ensnare that lasts for 15 minutes. In classic it was near impossible to land anyway, but when you did land it, it was stupidly overpowered. Effectively capping resists around 85-90% (instead of 95-99%) also meant that there's not quite as much of a gear advantage to be had.

Remember that guy on TZ (you don't, but let's pretend you do) during Velious who was fucking horrible at the game, but unkillable because he was in the top raid guild and had all of those sparkly Uber Raid Items he got from playing 80 hours a week?

Yeah - we don't want that this time around. Let's not do that.

Maybe continent-specific so it's useful as a way to inform players if there's PvP going on somewhere nearbyish but doesn't spam the whole server insanely if there's 500 people online and someone gets killed every ten seconds. Dunno if content-only is possible, but it'd be neat. The only valid argument against yellow text is the potential spam, and the feature would serve a useful purpose beyond just dick-waving.

Its funny because Red 69 did everything the trolls wanted and no matter what was changed they didnt stick with it.
Now we have dynamic levels LOL
no Yt lol
but on the bright side the meat has been fed corn and is fattened...so its a coin toss in the end.
