None of you are playing the game.

The game should be roleplaying as a council of halflings to settle all disputes at an in game town hall meeting.

OF COURSE guilds have shared accounts, but that's not a bot (automated character), which isn't allowed. You've completely missed the point and it's moronic to suggest someone doesn't know about shared accounts. Don't be a DSM.

The discussion was about a guild using 18 accounts to perma camp something on a 5 minute respawn. 18 actual players, either in rotation for the spawn (classic play nice policy), or DPS racing (classic EQ for the first year of the game).

As already stated, it would be a huge improvement to the server if the classic rules were followed and guild tried to dedicate 18 people to try and hold a camp down. Even with 18 people a single guild would never completely own the camp, particularly with DPS racing.

Right now 1 single person gets to monopolize a camp. If 18 people were needed, that's 17 other camps in the game now open. Which is of course why no guild would ever do that. Even with 18, anyone else could still get in the rotation, or with DPS racing any solo SK would be able to come along and simply press their button faster on the spawn than those 18 other people.

Many people call shared accounts "guild bots" or "bots" on P99. People generally don't use the term "bot" to mean automated characters on P99, since it is banned anyway. You would know this if you played P99 and raided. Doing a quick look through my guild discord channels, Kittens, Vanquish, and Fuse all use the term "bot" for shared accounts. You were in kittens.

If 18 guild members were holding down a camp, most people would call that monopolizing. You keep playing symmantic games so you don't have to admit being wrong. Even on P99, perma-camped camps have changed hands. I told you this before. Shiny Brass Idol camp was perma-camped for years, but it still changed hands. Sometimes people go afk, don't get a replacement, etc.

The word 'bot' has a different meaning on p99 than the one you're applying to it. You didn't know what they meant when they said "18 shadowknight guild bots" so clearly you aren't spending nearly as much time in game as you are on these forums.

Yes they do. How else is someone supposed to refer to such a thing happening? That's the term, across all of gaming. People also using it to refer to shared accounts is irrelevant. They are different things, and your attempted argument makes 0 sense unless referring to people actually botting (and even then, it's a dumb argument).

It doesn't matter what you think people would call it. It factually would not be monopolizing — with classic rules anyone would be able to go to the Idol camp and have a chance at the content in normal play session, either by adding themselves to the rotation or DPS racing.

As already explained many times now, and as anyone with a functional brain can understand, dedicating 18 people to compete for a camp, instead of 1 person being able to monopolize it, is a massive difference. People can only be in 1 place at a time (without cheating). A guild trying keep 18 people logged in at a spawn means they are losing out elsewhere. Naturally people will want to spread out more, and every camp becomes more available to the individual player who actually needs an item from a given camp.

It's almost as if poorly thought out itemization and artificial scarcity systems haven't stood the test of time and we shouldn't twist ourselves in knots to justify them.

It is trivial to prove P99 guilds use the term "bot" or "guild bot" to refer to shared accounts. P99 Guild discords have channels with the word "bot" in them to refer to guild shared accounts at this very moment. Just admit you were wrong. I was not referring to automated characters. I was referring to players using shared guild accounts.

On P99, Idol camp has already changed hands plenty of times without your specific rules. Plenty of guilds on P99 pay DKP for services like camping Shiny Brass Idol. If the rules change, players will adapt. They always do.

imagine how you'd feel breaking the server rules if the 9 halflings were mad at you

Which makes your argument even more moronic (and you WERE talking about boxed accounts and how people play on live earlier — people routinely uses bots on those accounts, and of course it's happened here too).

The only way it would ever marginally make sense to have 18 SK's sit at the Idol camp when DPS racing is if they were botting: each of them on rotation being able to instantly Harm Touch the spawn every time to pops via the bot. Otherwise whoever's turn it is to HT could easily lose to anyone else who comes along and presses their button faster.

Even with cheating they still wouldn't be able to have an actual monopoly like people unclassically can on p99, because 18 people can't just sit there all the time. At some point most of them will need to get off those characters and actually go play the game. Without cheating it would just be an insane waste of resources. The smart guild management would be keeping 1 rogue there; double backstab will do enough damage most of the time. Sometimes you'll lose to other people because they click faster, but that's way better than idiotically having 18 people there and not competing for 17 other camps or doing other exp/quest stuff.

Yeah, the game just had bad coding. But at least with classic rules people can actually go attempt the content if they want to, instead of being locked out by some nolifer. For any camp with a regular respawn time, people would be able to pop into the game for an hour or two and have some chances before logging off.
