Serious question: Do you live in the same reality as the rest of us? I get your point about all the other countries: but America is one of the most expensive countries to live in the world right now (in the modern sense with the modern drippings like house, food, transportation), and it lacks things like universal healthcare, childcare, easy access to higher education etc.

It's the land of the vapid, self-serving masses, where you can go to thrive if you:
a) want to be a soul-sucking, leech on society and peddle your "influence" in the form of YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, etc channels
b) are an executive at one of the massive companies that have pushed most small businesses out of existence, and want to continue to pay your workers a tiny bit, while you exploit tax loopholes to pay yourself in millions of dollars of stock options per year, while you claim a salary of $180k.

And otherwise are told: "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" while you watch your grocery bill double in a year's time, your utilities bills skyrocket, your gas prices nearly double in a few months, while you watch non-stop cable "news" channels to figure out who to hate.
You haven't even lived through a draft or recession.

Most people would still rather live in America. There is a reason why America has immigration issues. People vote with their feet, not with reddit posts.

The people who complain about America would rather live in America over most countries factually speaking, even if they won't admit it online.

Most of the countries that say america is a failed experement have around 2 trillion invested in US bonds because it's that much better than their own countries economies.

Doesn't diminish the fact that it will continue to increase in difficulty to spawn into America (or transfer to America) in the lower or middle class.

The wealth gap will grow. The knowledge gap will grow. Look at how much it already has in the past 5-10 years.

Over the span of the last 70 years it's downright sickening.

The point of this post is that the ideals that America stood for are gone. Now its the country where rich people will move to so that they can buy their way out of any legal troubles they might face. And then the rest will be the laborers and workers who prop up the uber-rich.

In addition: It's not just people in online spaces who are extremely worried about America's near future.

Talk to people. Ask them how they think the country (and world) will turn out if we continue on the path we're on. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who thinks all of this is headed in the right direction.

All it takes is looking at a grocery bill that cost $150 in 2019, that cost $200 in 2024, and now costs $300 in 2026 (all while income has remained largely stagnate for the majority of Americans) to realize shit's fucked, and it's getting worse.

And as per usual: Everyone is focused on the culture wars bullshit to realize that people like Elon Musk (who has gained $600 billion of net worth in 2 years. The richest person on the planet QUADRUPLED his net worth in 2 fucking years) are getting away with pooling the world's economic resources into their own fucking coffers, and not using ANY of it to enhance society. Instead, they are trying to look cool to impress other uber-rich folks in the dick-measuring contest that will set humanity back decades (or more)

That type of shit gets sanewashed. "its not so bad"

Wait until the gas prices go back up. Wait until that grocery bill is $400. Wait until there is so much fucking petty, violent crime, because nobody can afford basic necessities.

Hopefully I have a massive myocardial infarction before then. But my time's running out to boost up my cholesterol to fatal levels...

I wish there was a store I could go to for zero effort that would deliver useful objects to my door for zero postage.

Additionally, I'd also like to make phone calls from the forest. So hop to.

Generation Alpha can’t read and the generation that’s raising them is trying to blame 80 year olds.
