When you can't reason with an out of control tot a little swat to get their attention is totally reasonable.

This is not the same as slashing them to death with a breadknife and dancing on their graves singing hallelujah.

Ahhhh, yes, the Ivory Tower approach: You're better than all of us, so you must be right.

Again, pay attention. You're mixing the words 'beating' with 'reasonable and appropriate' as if they're the same thing. I made the distinction because they are not. You're trying to devalue my use of 'reasonable and appropriate' to the level of physical abuse, and that's just not correct. The two are mutually exclusive.

The reference was from The Breakfast Club, it was meant to simply illustrate the difference between what I'm talking about and what he's trying to make it sound like I'm talking about.

And again, you too... I'm not talking about violence. Get it right before you jump in.
It sounds like you're trying really hard to justify beating your kids, but nobody is buying it, no matter how many times you ask us to "keep up". But go on and ask us to "keep up" some more.

Very good point. Sometimes, with children, there IS no reasoning. That's why there's a different word for them, as opposed to 'adult'.

Hugs and sunshine will not always make everything perfect.

The reason I say 'keep up' so much is because of the attempts to redefine what I'm saying, because they're not really paying attention. They're (so far) not capable of understanding something different, apparently, so they're wrapping their own definitions around it, and incorrectly.

My use of anecdote as a rhetorical device was a parody of your witless Breakfast Club reference. I'm sorry you didn't get it.

No, if anything, you were making the semantic argument. I spelled out my position just fine in the first place, you're only catching up now.

Finally.

Idiot.

Goin' to get pizza, fuck you.
