The only thing good about wheel of time was joking about how much more retarted you are for having read it than your casual friends, and the amazing cover art.

The cover art is 90s CRPG box art, pinball machine art, table top games, Heavy Metal (music and magazines) etc.. same vein of artists like Keith Parkinson, Larry Elmore, Clyde Caldwell, Boris Vallejo, Julie Bell, Daniel Horne and more. https://www.orkerhulen.dk/artists.html [You must be logged in to view images. I mean I really enjoy how its like a manga where rand just keeps getting more OP. There are a lot of cool things that happen I am super critical of it because I'd never recommend someone read it but it was good fun.
Writing isn't good like a stephen king book but the valuable content level was equally low. It was a story for the fun of the story and gives you no insights into life at all. I really want the show to be a success but it probably wont. The first episode felt like they were going for the 90's syndicated fantasy Xena and Hercules style aka cheezball but fully enjoyed it. I was more surprised to see the netflix live action cowboy bebop show the other day. Like wtf?? didn't know that was coming

And I don't really buy the "Lord of the Rings" knock-off argument. Most fantasy is like that to be honest, because "Lord of The Rings" is a top tier series everyone has read. It is pretty tough to completely leave out "Lord of The Rings" influence in a fantasy series. In most cases a good author is someone who can take an existing idea and make a slightly novel interpretation of it, and Robert Jordan does that. Making a completely original idea is almost impossible, and that isn't the standard if you read a lot. If your reading list only consists of top tier material, you are in for an amazing ride, albeit a short one lol. Much like the great composers, it is very rare that a Tolkien or a Frank Herbert comes along. Robert Jordan is still one of the higher tier fantasy writers, and the popularity of Wheel of Time backs that up.

Yeah but like, telling your friends about manga is a pretty retarted thing to do, no offence I think that's a great point and a strong argument as I have read the wheel of time and agree, we are superior having done so.

the wheel of time is nowhere near how LOTR is
people who say so never read the book

It is like trying to compare most music to something like Beethoven. 99% of music compared to Beethoven is objectively garbage, but that doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable. Again, if your standard is you only read top tier, that is fine, but your reading list will be short.

Looks so contrived. "Hey there's a totally evil power, and a chosen one who can stop them"
I don't see anything in that trailer which gives it the unique flavor of that series.

I think that is why Perrin has a wife that immediately dies, for example. They wanted a quick reason to give Perrin his withdrawn personality, and make sure people don't think he may get together with another female character from the Two Rivers later. So far I haven't hated the series, they are getting through most of the major story points decently enough. But it is very obvious they are rushing through the story, which is why it will never live up to something like the first few seasons of Game of Thrones. My guess is they are trying to fit one book per season, so that will already be 14 seasons minimum lol. I doubt they will want to run 14 seasons though, so they may end up doing something like 1.5 books per season, and cut out most of the side stories.
