I had a roommate in college that tried to get me to read his stupid ass fantasy novel collection, starting with this series. This show is awesome, and I regret not taking him up on his offer. Served.

I plan on reading after the season ends though.

It's not Elves and Fairies. It is a brutal series. Warning: if you get easily attached to characters, this might not be for you. I had a friend who was reading it and it turned him off to it.

I know rite? I bought and started reading the series last sunday, and I'm already halfway through the second book (about a thousand pages each). Can't put it down.
