And yet, that's not the point. They admitted it was an error. Nobody is threatening legal action. Nobody is demanding a boycott. Nobody is sending death threats. The community is just saying that the person was mislead, accidentally, and something more than a "Shrug." is probably appropriate.

What harm is there in compensating someone, at zero effort required, for a mistake? Why are you crusading against it, exactly?

Crusading? Dude, my view (pretty clear in my comments!) is basically, “this is silly and poopsocking is silly”. Which I stand by.

Sucks for the guy, but he chose to spend an inordinate amount of time sitting in a mid level dungeon for a thing. That was his choice, and it didn’t pan out in a way that was reasonably predictable given that he chose to poopsock a month after Kunark dropped for an item that was around for less than a month. So yeah, I would and am arguing this does deserve a “Shrug”.

Because this whole thread is very, very silly.

Still crusading against someone's happiness in an online game because they're playing differently than you. Truly, the most bearded neck I've seen in a while.

Congratulations.

dont think its unreasonable if there is a /list at the camp still that the item the list is for should still be dropping.

There is no reason not to get this guy a locket. Does it really hurt all the other players if there is 1 more locket in the game, or even 10 more? Geez.

I can't think of a single reason not to help this guy out. Its a game for fun. He threw a lot of hours down. What is the drawback?

The list system is broken by teamviewer and stuff. It allows coordinated permanent list keeping. It kinda sucks, but its the best solution we have right now for the poopsock legacy item problem.

The reasons I have heard not to give this guy an item

1. "Its classic to get screwed by game"

is that it?

The list was active. No other lists were active. Being pulled suddenly and list disappearing makes sense. List staying on, does not make sense. Maybe he is someone that staff hates hardcore and doesn't want him to get the item. That could make sense. Maybe hes just a patsy for a big guild that already has 10 of them. What do I know.

Next server better not have legacy items done with limited uptime and maximum pixel rot encouragement. It really has tainted this server. Its not staffs fault they're being great heroes but with 21 years of vanilla everquest we gotta make some mods to carry classic everquest into perpetuity.

People camping on 1x level 1 mob till it stops giving them EXP is deep insanity.

Level caps, removed or permanently included legacy stuff. I don't see another way to make the journey less of a rat race to secure generational everquest wealth. I understand this deeply because I was in the same position on red99 and it took away a bit of the fun. I got to get the stuff I wanted but I'd rather be able to come have fun whenever I want.
