Am I the only one who thinks obsessing over the names of other players is probably the least of anyone's concerns? Why are we wasting the staff's time with this...on a volunteer emulator 20 years later. They didn't even care this much back in actual Classic, because you couldn't swing a rusty longsword without hitting someone named 'Legolasss' or 'Giimli'. I feel like as some players age they've lost the ability to have fun, and just want to shit on someone else's experience to feel validated.

Take's literally 15 seconds for a staff member to check a name and change it to a random.

So much time wasted.

Use the Petition forum, which is private to you and staff. Staff frown on publicly posting the contents of a petition.

people knew I had done it when I publicly posted the same list I petitioned with the staff. (something you should never do. petition then publicly post about that petition)

You could talk to the staff about changing the rules. With the rules as-is, though, they should be respected.

There are some name violations I don’t mind, and even some I like. Each of us must choose where to draw the line. You are welcome to petition only vulgar names, or none at all. If everyone petitions the worst 1% of the bad names they see, we’ll have a more fantastic Norrath.

I, for one, greatly enjoyed grouping with Vageena Clamsmasher recently. High immersion levels all around.
