there is no class in this game that can face tank the mobs while soloing, monk is the only one that could even attempt to claim such a thing but it requires very good gear.

Also everyone's opinion on what "can solo" means is different. Can solo, in order of how easily:

Chanter (charm pet, most powerful soloer in the game, needs gear and levels to work),
Shaman (root rot, 2nd Easiest but requires gear / levels / drop spells that cost a ton),
Necro (mostly fear kite strategies, no gear requirement to speak of),
Wiz / Druid / Bard (kiting only),
Monk (rly only viable with very good gear, but ppl do try anyway),
Mage (not sure how this works but I know its better then ranger),
SK / Ranger (imo its not viable at all, but it is possible with very specific mobs and strat)
I face tank solo on my shaman. 1-60 and beyond.

I did ranger from 1-30 solo, then broke down and grouped in HK/MM because it was so much quicker.

I'm gonna fix this a little.

Chanters can solo completely naked better than almost any classes via charming. Not sure what level charming takes off though.

Shaman can solo either face tank or root rot.

Necro can fear kite, root rot or charm.

Wizard/Druid/Bards can kill multiple mobs at once with AOE's

Druids can animal charm solo

Mages use pets then use the spell reclaim energy to withdraw pets before kills so they get 100% exp

SK/Rangers's can fear kite I guess. Rangers use animals.

After a lot of the advice I decided to try my hand at a human ranger. I have to say, I am absolutely loving it. In three short days I reached level 9, which is pretty good for me. I love tracking. It really helps me find mobs when I'm constantly lost. Haven't went to buy my first spells yet but I can't wait

Should I be looking for any specific weapons ?,

Probably wizzy. I would go into crazy dungeons to see what I could and couldn’t do. I always did better than I thought I would. When I releveled my 2nd one, with more money, it wasn’t quite as fun. But quadding is awesome tho.

Thanks. My filthy casual brain struggles with the damage / delay ratios --- recognizing what I should use and at which point

Green Jade Broadsword and Crystalline Spider Fang are good and cheap. That's what I've used pretty much from level 15-39.
